1. As Congress eyes yet another stopgap continuing resolution, House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mac Thornberry (R-TX) says the Pentagon may need "flexibility" on the deadline for obligating fiscal year 2018 funds, especially for operations and maintenance.

2. Deputy Defense Secretary Pat Shanahan has tasked the Pentagon's deputy chief management officer with leading the military's adoption of cloud technologies by establishing a new program and budget line for the effort.
