This Wednesday INSIDER Daily Digest has news on a Navy surface combatant fleet analysis of alternatives, the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program, the Air Force's Advanced Battle Management System and more.

The findings of a new surface combatant fleet analysis or alternatives are expected to influence Navy force structure decisions in fiscal year 2021 as well as budget and shipbuilding plans beginning in FY-22:

New Future Surface Combatant fleet analysis validates contribution of medium, large USVs to fight

The Navy is expected to finalize next month a major new analysis of its future surface combatant fleet that recommends how many medium- and large-displacement unmanned surface vehicles to fold into fighting formations with destroyers, cruisers, Littoral Combat Ships and frigates.

The F-35 joint program office this week offered new details about the cloud-based, integrated network that will replace the aircraft's troubled Autonomic and Logistics Information System, confirming it has named the new capability the Operational Data Integrated Network, or ODIN:

F-35 JPO to release first ALIS replacement hardware this year

The F-35 joint program office announced this week it will release the first hardware for its new fleet diagnostics and health management system later this calendar year and expects the capability to be fully operational by December 2022.

The Air Force discussed the Advanced Battle Management System during a media roundtable this morning:

The Air Force has identified 28 different emerging technologies it's developing for the Advanced Battle Management System to enable operations across integrated platforms in the air, land, sea, cyber and space domains.

The Space Development Agency and Missile Defense Agency are working closely together:

As the new Space Development Agency continues to map its strategy for a missile tracking and detection layer, it is working closely with the Missile Defense Agency to determine which organization will be responsible for which capabilities.

Accreditation body takes initial steps in forming board to certify DOD contractors

The first members have been announced for a board that will form an accreditation body to certify the cybersecurity practices of Defense Department contractors, with nearly 100 applications received for the remaining six positions expected to be filled within the next few weeks.
