Deputy Defense Secretary Pat Shanahan has tasked the Pentagon's deputy chief management officer with leading the military's adoption of cloud technologies by establishing a new program and budget line for the effort.

Development of the Knifefish unmanned undersea vehicle is facing new delays stemming from a funding shortfall, forcing a 15-month delay to plans for declaring the newest variant of the Littoral Combat Ship mine countermeasure mission package operational.

More than half the money allocated to development projects in Afghanistan went to cover overhead and other indirect costs:

Kratos awarded $93 million contract for Army target drones

The Army has contracted with Kratos to develop 70 to 80 high-speed aerial targets over a five-year period, according to a company official. Kratos Unmanned Aerial Systems -- formerly Composite Engineering -- will deliver the drones with ground support, including launchers and spares.
