Pentagon officials warned defense contractors today that Congress could be inching closer toward a yearlong stopgap spending bill that could prevent the Defense Department from starting new acquisition programs.

Marine Corps general: 'Normalization' of CR creates risk

A Marine Corps general who serves as an adviser to the commandant expressed concern yesterday over the "normalization" of using stopgap continuing resolutions to fund the government.

McCarthy: Commands reduced spending by 2% under initial CR

Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy said Thursday the Army has already felt the effects of the first continuing resolution that started Oct. 1, previously asking commands to reduce spending by 2%.

The Army's Program Executive Office for Command, Control and Communications-Tactical had a meeting this week to discuss Capability Set 23, which is focused on increasing resiliency and capacity of the network through satellite communication:

The Army recently outlined its plans to develop and field the next tactical network capability set during a two-day industry event in Austin, TX.

Navy Adm. Christopher Grady, commander of U.S Fleet Forces, recently approved the Aegis integrated combat system program office to begin planning "Virtual Pilot Ship Increment 2," an effort that aims to equip the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer Porter (DDG-78), an Aegis Baseline 5 ship, with Baseline 9 capabilities:

Navy studying quick upgrade of legacy destroyer fleet with newer Aegis combat system

The Navy is pursuing an experimental effort to rapidly upgrade its older destroyers to a newer baseline of the Aegis combat system, according to a service official.

In the wake of the Government Accountability Office sustaining Blue Origin's protest of Phase 2 of the Air Force's Launch Services Procurement effort and recommending the service amend the request for proposals, the Air Force has done just that:

The Air Force confirmed this week that it will amend its Launch Services Procurement request for proposals to comply with a recommendation from the Government Accountability Office, noting that it does not expect the process to affect its plan to award a contract next spring.
