The military's joint all-domain command control strategy is currently awaiting signature by the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Christianne Witten, a spokeswoman for the office of the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told Inside Defense.

JADC2 is the Defense Department's efforts to link all sensors and command and control nodes together in order to respond to threats faster.

The finalization of the plan is long-awaited. Vice Adm. Jeffrey Trussler said on Feb. 24 that he expected the JADC2 strategy to be released in the coming weeks.

Trussler then told attendees at a Navy League event on April 6 that the strategy's finalization was "imminent" and "very close." However, Trussler said he was "unsure" if the final strategy would be released to the public.

Trussler also cautioned on April 6 that the strategy, if released, "may actually raise more questions than answers." He also said the need for greater interoperability will require the Navy to "own the architecture and the data" from industry moving forward, which highlighted a constant concern regarding proprietary information.

Witten did not immediately respond to questions from Inside Defense regarding a more definitive timeline on the chairman's signature.
