Kirtland AFB to host nuclear technology meeting

Kirtland Air Force Base, NM, home to the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, will hold a nuclear deterrence operations research and development meeting with industry May 7-11, according to a recent notice.

The week-long conference will address capability gaps in global nuclear command, control and communications, airborne missiles like Boeing's Air-Launched Cruise Missile and the Long-Range Standoff Weapon in development at Lockheed Martin and Raytheon, and sustainment and modernization of bombers and intercontinental ballistic missiles, including those Boeing and Northrop Grumman are designing, the Dec. 22 notice stated.

Proposals from industry and academia are due Feb. 12.
