Kongsberg will build the Medium Caliber Turret for the Marine Corps' Amphibious Combat Vehicle gun variant, the company announced today.

Kongsberg plans to deliver as many as 150 turrets and will start turning over test articles in early 2021.

"The Kongsberg MCT-30 is the first remotely operated 30 mm turret to be qualified and fielded in the United States. The system provides highly accurate firepower for wheeled or tracked combat vehicles," the company said in a press release. "It is remotely controlled and operated from a protected position inside the vehicle compartment for optimized crew safety."

BAE Systems, which builds the ACV for the Marine Corps, tapped Kongsberg to produce the MCT.

The Marine Corps plans to buy four ACV variants: a personnel vehicle, a gun vehicle with the 30 mm Medium Caliber Cannon, a recovery vehicle and a command and control vehicle.
