L3 Technologies said today it has purchased Adaptive Methods, a systems engineering company focused on undersea warfare and anti-submarine warfare capabilities.
L3, which said the deal was completed late last week, did not disclose the terms. The business will be renamed L3 Adaptive Methods and be integrated into L3's sensor systems unit.
The Centreville, VA-based Adaptive Methods is developing autonomy and sensor payload solutions for unmanned undersea vehicles, L-3 said. It also provides tactical buoy systems for manned and unmanned platforms.
L3 has increasingly focused on undersea capabilities. The contractor previously acquired Open Water Power, which is developing undersea power generation technologies, and OceanServer Technology, which develops and manufactures UUVs.
