In a bid to boost its unmanned maritime business, L3 Technologies said today it has acquired ASV global, an unmanned surface vessel and autonomous vessel control systems company.
The business will now be known as L3 ASV, the contractor said.
"Based in Louisiana and the United Kingdom, L3 ASV delivers surface vessels in a range of sizes, currently from 10 to 42 feet, with proprietary software and control systems and proven unmanned system autonomy architectures," L3 said.
L3 has already acquired multiple companies with unmanned maritime technology, including Adaptive Methods, a systems engineering company focused on undersea warfare and anti-submarine warfare capabilities; Open Water Power, which is developing undersea power generation technologies; and OceanServer Technology, which manufactures unmanned undersea vehicles.
Last week, L3 said it had promoted Sean Stackley to head its communications and networked systems business, which has been reshaped to include all maritime capabilities.
