L3 names O'Reilly vice president of engineering

L3 Technologies said today it has named retired Army Lt. Gen. Pat O'Reilly, former director of the Missile Defense Agency, corporate vice president of engineering, effective immediately.

"Since retiring from the military in 2013, he has served as an advisor and board member with a number of agencies, focusing on business, government policy and technology development, STEM education initiatives, and international security," L3 said.

In the company's announcement, Chris Kubasik, L3's chief executive, said O'Reilly would be able to advance "cross-segment innovations" and identify promising technologies within the company.
