Lockheed Martin said today Jim Taiclet, its chief executive and president, will serve as chairman of its board of directors, effective March 1.

Marillyn Hewson, the board's executive chairwoman and the former CEO, intends to retire, the company said. She will be a strategic adviser to the CEO through Feb. 28, 2022.

Additionally, Lockheed said it has named Greg Ulmer executive vice president of its aeronautics business, succeeding Michele Evans, who died earlier this month. The appointment is effective Feb. 1.

Ulmer has served as acting executive vice president of the group since Dec. 1. He was named vice president and general manager of the F-35 program in March 2018.
