Lockheed Martin is again teaming up with Tyvak Nano Satellite Systems for work tied to the Space Development Agency's transport satellite effort.

Tyvak, a subsidiary of Terran Orbital Corp., announced today that it had received a contract from Lockheed to build satellites as part of the Tranche 1 Transport Layer.

The release comes in the weeks after Lockheed won a $700 million SDA award to design and build 42 satellites ahead of an anticipated September 2024 launch date. York Space Systems and Northrop Grumman also won contracts to support the 126 total small communication space vehicles making up the tranche.

Lockheed and York are also on contract to build 10 transport satellites each as part of Tranche 0. Lockheed tapped Tyvak as a partner for that award in 2020.
