Mercury Systems executive says semiconductor push could affect supply chain

The federal effort to address the semiconductor shortage could have implications for Mercury Systems, which has in recent years expanded its microelectronics packaging business.

In an interview with Inside Defense, Bill Conley, Mercury's chief technology officer, noted there is a clear difference between commercial and defense products.

However, he said the company is closely watching how legislation like the Chips for America and Endless Frontier acts could affect the company's supply chain.

"Will it change aspects of our supply chain?" he said. "We are definitely paying attention."

But Conley cautioned that improving the situation at a national level won't happen fast.

"I don't think we're going to find a quick fix or a quick win," he said.
