Naval Sea Systems Command's Warfare Centers will work to leverage emerging technology and modernize their infrastructure, the centers' new strategic plan states.

The Navy released the centers' 2021-2025 strategic plan Monday. The plan lists five strategic goals: "workforce and leadership development; mission-aligned strategies at the division level; technical innovation and excellence; business excellence and improvement; and right culture/values."

The Warfare Centers perform research, development, test and evaluation assessment activity for surface/undersea systems and subsystems, the plan states.

The plan calls for infrastructure improvements, and for the centers to develop capabilities in emerging technology areas for the Navy's future.

"The NAVSEA Warfare Centers will provide unique value to the Navy and the nation through innovation, collaboration, and delivering superior capability before or as soon as it is needed," the plan states.

Centers should recruit and retain the best personnel and provide them with leadership opportunities, according to the plan. It calls for the centers to remove barriers and encourage a diversity of thought.

The centers will also strive to improve their business processes, improve communication and improve diversity and inclusion, the plan said.
