Navy accepts delivery of LCS-10

The Navy accepted delivery of the latest trimaran-hulled Littoral Combat Ship today in Mobile, AL.

The Gabrielle Giffords (LCS-10) is the ninth vessel to be delivered to the Navy and the fifth of the Independence variant to join the fleet. The Independence variant is built by Austal USA.

"Today marks a significant milestone in the life of the future USS Gabrielle Giffords, as transfer to the Navy occurs and her in-service counter begins," LCS Program Manager Capt. Tom Anderson said in a statement. "I look forward to celebrating the commissioning of this fine ship, along with the ship's namesake, this coming spring as she makes her way to her homeport of San Diego."
