Rear Adm. Nancy Norton joined the Defense Information Systems Agency earlier this month as its vice director, DISA announced today.

Norton previously served on the Navy staff as director of warfare integration for information warfare (N2/N6). She's now the No. 2 official at DISA to the agency's director, Army Lt. Gen. Alan Lynn. Her first day at DISA was Aug. 11.

In a statement released by DISA Aug. 28, Norton shared her top three objectives as ensuring the lethality of the Defense Department, building a joint network “that is both maneuverable and mobile,” and developing “an agile workforce that can adjust requirements and systems to meet changing warfighter requirements.”

Norton has held a number of key information warfare positions over the course of her career, including director of the command, control, communications and cyber directorate at U.S. Pacific Command and the lead for command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) for the Navy’s 2008 Quadrennial Defense Review office, according to her Navy biography. She has also served as the executive assistant to the vice chief of naval operations and then to the chief of naval operations.
