The Navy yesterday awarded a $113.5 million contract modification to BAE Systems for the Marine Corps' Amphibious Combat Vehicle.

The modification is for the second part of the program's low-rate initial production Lot 3 stage and adds 26 vehicles to the Marine Corps' buy.

In a press release, BAE noted that with this latest modification, the company is under contract for 116 ACVs.

"This award further demonstrates our commitment to [expeditionary missions]," John Swift, BAE's amphibious program director for combat vehicles, said in a statement. "[I]t's an important milestone for the program and represents a major step toward full-rate production."

The Navy in October issued BAE a $119.9 million modification for the first portion of LRIP Lot 3.

Inside Defense reported that same month that the Marine Corps delayed the start of the ACV's initial operational test and evaluation phase after the program's delivery schedule fell behind projections.
