The Navy today announced a $249.9 million contract modification to Raytheon for its Air and Missile Defense Radar.
The modification is for two low-rate initial production units of Raytheon’s SPY-6 radar, which is outfitted on the Navy's Arleigh Burke Flight III destroyers, according to the contract announcement.
Raytheon is projected to finish the work by June 2023, the announcement said.
In a press release, Raytheon said this modification means the company is currently on contract to build nine SPY-6 radar sets for the Flight III vessels.
Raytheon bills SPY-6 as a scalable radar that can be outfitted on a variety of Navy vessels.
