Navy and Marine Corps leadership are in discussions about when to establish the 10th Amphibious Ready Group at Naval Station Mayport in Jacksonville, FL, according to a three-star general.

"There is a common desire to do it," Lt. Gen. Brian Beaudreault, deputy commandant for plans, policies and operations, said today at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington. "It's the year in which we can execute is what's up for further discussion."

Beaudreault said it is unlikely the service will stand up the ARG within the next two years.

The ARG would be stationed in Mayport to help the Navy "aggregate a force" in one of its "major plans," according to the general.
