The Navy announced yesterday it completed the turnover of its sixth advanced weapons elevator onboard the aircraft carrier Gerald Ford (CVN-78).

The service in recent months has made a concerted effort to keep the Ford program on track following intense congressional criticism over cost increases and delays.

Those efforts have included former acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly convening a summit of Navy and industry officials to discuss the program’s progress as well as changing over the program manager.

The service, according to the statement, is on track to certify the remaining five elevators prior to full ship shock trials next year, which is in line with the schedule Modly laid out during the summit.
