The Navy is hosting an industry day next week in northern Virginia to discuss the service's plan for the follow-on Next Generation Enterprise Network competition.

The industry day, scheduled for Jan. 25 at the Sheraton Tysons Hotel in Tysons Corner, VA, will be the third the Navy has held on the upcoming NGEN re-compete effort. The current NGEN contract supports the massive Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), which has over 700,000 users spread out across more than 2,500 locations, according to the Navy. The $3.45 billion deal was awarded to Hewlett Packard in 2013 and expires in June 2018.

At the last industry day in May 2016, Navy officials said the service was strongly considering splitting up the work bundled under the current NGEN contract into multiple awards as part of the new competition.

Registration for the upcoming industry day closes on Jan. 19, with industry organizations limited to three attendees each, according to a Navy statement on the event.
