The Navy today published its final request for proposals for the service management portion of the Next Generation Enterprise Network recompetition, according to a statement from the program executive office for enterprise information systems.

The recompetition, which will deliver the follow-on to the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet, is divided into two RFPs. The one released today covers service, management, integration and transport. The service published the RFP for NGEN hardware in September.

"Separating IT services into multiple contract segments makes management, financial and competitive sense for the Navy," Capt. Ben McNeal, naval enterprise networks program manager, said in the statement.

Responses to the service management RFP are due Jan. 10, while responses for the hardware RFP are due Nov. 19.

The service had planned to award the NGEN-R contracts this November and December. Last month, the Navy issued NGEN incumbent Perspecta an extension to the current contract, adding "a new option period that will extend the potential ordering period by 12 months from Oct. 1, 2018 through Sept. 30, 2019," according to a Defense Department release.
