Navy soliciting industry interest for integration, testing of SSDS on carriers, amphibs

The Navy is seeking information from industry about interest in providing integration and testing support for the Ship Self-Defense System on several classes of warships, according to an April 8 Navy notice.

The service "would like to gauge industry interest and capability in providing [combat system ship integration and test] efforts on aircraft carriers and large-deck amphibious ships," the notice said.

The Navy expects to publish a request for proposals later this year and a contract award is scheduled for the second quarter of fiscal year 2022. The potential contract would have one base year of performance with nine optional years.

The Navy originally issued a similar request for information in December but inactivated that RFI in January.

Inside Defense reported late last year that the Government Accountability Office denied Raytheon's bid protest of a contract award to Lockheed Martin to provide combat system engineering support for the Ship Self-Defense System.
