Parsons taps Smith as next CEO

Parsons said today Carey Smith will become chief executive on July 1.

She will succeed Chuck Harrington, who plans to retire. He will continue to serve on the company's board as executive chairman.

Harrington has been with the company since 1982 and has been CEO since 2008.

Smith joined Parsons in 2016 as head of its federal solutions business. In 2018, she was promoted to chief operating officer. Earlier this year, she added president to her title and joined the board.

Previously, Smith was president of Honeywell's defense and space business; before that, she held multiple positions at Lockheed Martin.
