Pentagon awards $352M contract mod for F-35 helmet

The Defense Department today awarded Lockheed Martin a $352.6 million contract modification to buy Generation 3 helmet mounted displays as part of F-35 low-rate initial production lots 12 through 14.

Work is expected to be complete by December 2020, according to the contract announcement. Subcontractors Rockwell Collins and Elbit Systems build the Gen 3 HMD.

The Pentagon in June announced it had reached a "handshake agreement" with Lockheed for LRIP Lot 12, with options for lots 13 and 14.
