The Defense Department is requesting $22.95 billion for its military intelligence program in fiscal year 2020, which includes base budget funding as well as the Overseas Contingency Operations accounts, according to a Pentagon statement.

"The department determined that releasing this top line figure does not jeopardize any classified activities within the MIP," the Pentagon said. "No other MIP budget figures or program details will be released, as they remain classified for national security reasons."

The Pentagon's military intelligence program request has been trending upward in recent years.

DOD requested a $21.2 billion in FY-19, $20.7 billion in FY-18 and $16.8 billion in FY-17.
