Peraton announced this week it received a $218 million contract to provide commercial satellite communications services to U.S. Africa Command.

The award is a task order under the Future Commercial SATCOM Acquisition program, and will provide users in the AFRICOM area of responsibility with the ability to quickly acquire commercial SATCOM services.

"Peraton will provide communications services leveraging satellites and emerging technologies from across multiple satellite fleet operators," the company said in a March 3 press release.

The FCSA program, previously managed by the Defense Information Services Agency, is led by the Space Force's commercial SATCOM procurement office. The contract was originally awarded to Inmarsat in 2019, but Peraton successfully protested the decision and DISA issued a new request for proposals.
