Pilot safely ejects from Super Hornet

A pilot safely ejected from an F/A-18E Super Hornet in the Western Pacific and was quickly recovered by a helicopter, according to U.S. Pacific Fleet.

The Super Hornet was on final approach to the aircraft carrier Carl Vinson (CVN-70) as part of routine operations in the Celebes Sea. The jet is assigned to Carrier Air Wing-2. The pilot is being assessed by the medical team aboard the Vinson and there are no apparent injuries, according to the April 21 statement.

The helicopter was assigned to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron-4 aboard the Vinson. The helicopter was conducting routine flight operations during a transit when the mishap took place, the statement reads.
