QinetiQ said this week it has signed an agreement with the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency to operate its U.S. business under a new special security agreement.

"This agreement replaces the prior Proxy Agreement for the QinetiQ North America business and also covers all operations undertaken through the recent MTEQ acquisition," the company said.

QinetiQ last year acquired Manufacturing Technologies, dubbed MTEQ, which provides next-generation sensing technology. The acquisition more than doubled the size of the company's U.S. operations.

The new special security agreement "enables the bringing together of all of QinetiQ's U.S. defence and security operations under a single entity, QinetiQ Inc, and as a single QinetiQ brand," the company said. "This agreement fundamentally changes and improves how QinetiQ approaches the largest defence market in the world and is a major milestone in the growth strategy for QinetiQ."

The U.S. business is led by Mary Williams, who was chief executive of MTEQ. Board members include John Hillen, Steve Wadey, David Smith, Pamela Drew and Tom Mills.

The unified company has about 700 employees.
