Radio Distribution System

The Air Force is exploring options for replacing the legacy radio distribution systems at its AN/USQ-163 Falconer Air Operation Centers (AOCs) -- the primary "weapon systems" or facilities used for tactical command and control of air and space operations.

In an updated sources-sought notice published on the Federal Business Opportunities website Jan. 6, the service calls for vendors that can deliver a single improved, internet protocol-based radio distribution system to replace two existing systems: the AccessNet Communication System and DSAN AccessPoint. The new system would be installed at 24 AOC sites.

"The scope of this effort requires a modernization of the radio distribution system architecture within the Air Operations Center weapon system (AOC WS), which will employ technologies to deploy a functionally-improved system as a replacement for the ACCESSNET and DSAN radio system for secure communications," the notice states. The response date is Jan. 21.
