Science Applications International Corp.'s acquisition of Unisys Federal, which closed Friday, will expand the company's work with multiple defense customers, according to Jim Scanlon, who leads SAIC's defense systems group.

In an interview with Inside Defense, Scanlon said Unisys Federal is already working with the Air Force and Army, among other defense organizations. Unisys Federal is teamed with Leidos on the Navy's Next Generation Enterprise Network program, Scanlon said.

Adding Unisys Federal is "an accelerant certainly for myself within the DOD space," he said.

Scanlon said SAIC is not seeking to immediately integrate Unisys Federal into its organization and wants to avoid disrupting its work. Instead, he said, SAIC will work "behind the scenes" to "align and coordinate with the customers."
