Science Applications International Corp. said today it has named Michael LaRouche general manager of its national security group.

LaRouche joins from Raytheon, where he was vice president of a business unit developing cyber solutions, SAIC said.

Mark Escobar, former general manager of SAIC's national security group, has been named chief of business operations. The newly formed business operations organization includes business development operations, corporate communications, corporate IT, contracts, procurement, government affairs, program operations, security and facilities, according to SAIC.

Meanwhile, SAIC also said today it is eliminating its chief operating officer role, effective April 1, after naming its current COO to take over as chief executive.

“SAIC’s customer-facing business groups and the Solutions and Technology Group, which previously reported to the COO, will now report to CEO-elect Nazzic Keene,” the contractor said. “The company’s corporate functions will also report to Keene as part of a broader initiative to operate within a flatter structure.”

SAIC said Tony Moraco, the outgoing chief executive, will continue as CEO and executive transition adviser until July 31, but during this transition Keene “will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day operation of the business.”
