SBIRS satellite ready for launch

The Air Force announced this week its fourth geosynchronous Space-Based Infrared System satellite is encapsulated and ready for a Jan. 18 launch from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, FL.

The Lockheed-built missile warning satellite will fly on a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket.

The mission is slated to lift off at 7:52 p.m.
