Air Force Maj. Gen. Richard Scobee has been nominated to become the next head of the Air Force Reserve, succeeding Lt. Gen. Maryanne Miller, the Pentagon announced this week.

If confirmed by the Senate, Scobee would also be promoted to lieutenant general and become the head of Air Force Reserve Command, located at Robins Air Force Base, GA. Scobee is currently serving as the command's deputy chief.

An F-16 pilot, Scobee served as head of the 10th Air Force, director of Air Force Reserve plans, programs and requirements and deputy director of operations at North American Aerospace Defense Command, among other posts.
