Navy Secretary Richard Spencer today reaffirmed his commitment to a 350-ship fleet on Twitter.
"That promise (of a 350-ship Navy) is still there and as the Secretary of the Navy I am working on that goal," Spencer wrote in a tweet.
In a separate tweet, Spencer said he sat down with MSNBC's Hugh Hewitt to discuss his priorities, which include growing the size of the fleet. The interview will air Saturday at 8 a.m.
President Trump made a 350-ship Navy a promise of his campaign, but some analysts and experts have cast doubt on the merits of that objective.
