The Senate voted yesterday to approve Lt. Gen. David Berger to serve as the next Marine Corps commandant.

The upper chamber also approved Berger's promotion to general by unanimous consent, according to Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin's (D-IL) office.

Berger will replace current Commandant Gen. Robert Neller, who has served in this position since 2015.

The Trump administration in March announced Berger, who currently heads Marine Corps Combat Development Command, as its choice to be the next commandant.
