Senate panel advances DOD nominees seeking confirmation

The Senate Armed Services Committee today voted to send the nominations for several senior Pentagon posts to the full Senate for confirmation, including President Biden's choice for Air Force secretary.

The nominees being advanced by the committee are: Frank Kendall to be Air Force secretary; Heidi Shyu to be under secretary of defense for research and engineering; Susanna Blume to be director of cost assessment and program evaluation; Christopher Maier to be assistant secretary of defense for special operations and low-intensity conflict; Deborah Rosenblum to be assistant secretary of defense for nuclear, chemical and biological defense programs; Jill Hruby to be head of the National Nuclear Security Administration; and Frank Rose to be principal deputy administrator of NNSA.
