The White House yesterday announced its plan to nominate retired Rear Adm. Charles Williams to serve as the Navy's assistant secretary for energy, installations and environment.

According to his service biography, Williams retired from the Navy in 2005 after a career serving both on active duty and in various Reserve positions.

"Williams is a Principal of Commercial Realty, a commercial real estate firm in St. Louis, specializing in client representation for office, industrial, retail and investment properties," Williams' Navy biography reads. "He has been recognized in The St. Louis Business Journal 'Heavy Hitter' report for top real estate executives in the community," it continues.

Phyllis Bayer, the most recent Navy assistant secretary for energy, installations and environment, announced her resignation in March.
