President Trump intends to make two new nominations for senior Pentagon positions, according to a White House announcement.

Kathryn Wheelbarger, currently performing the duties of assistant secretary of defense for international security affairs, has been tapped to become the next deputy under secretary of defense for intelligence and security.

The intelligence post was vacated by Kari Bingen last month.

Wheelbarger has been serving in her current role since Robert Karem resigned in 2018.

Wheelbarger previously served as policy director for the Senate Armed Services Committee, deputy staff director and senior counsel for the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and deputy chief of staff for the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.

Prior to her present role, she was vice president and chief compliance officer at CSRA.

Meanwhile, Jordan Gillis, currently the principal deputy assistant secretary of Army for installations, energy, and environment, is slated to be nominated to be assistant secretary of defense for sustainment.

The post has been vacant since Robert McMahon resigned in November.

Gillis previously was a consultant at ScottMadden and was also previously a member of the management team at McMaster-Carr Supply Company.
