Trussler: Navy focusing on cyber investments in 2021

The Navy is focusing on cyber investments in 2021, Vice Adm. Jeffrey Trussler, deputy chief of naval operations for information warfare, said Wednesday.

"We're looking hard at everything having to do with cyber, and shoring up our systems quite a bit," he said at an Intelligence and National Security Alliance event.

Trussler said the Navy needs to invest in capabilities to support the fleet's cyber command, and invest in shoring up resilient command and control communications systems.

The Navy felt "almost no impact" from the SolarWinds supply chain cyberattack late last year, Trussler said. Russia is suspected to be behind that attack.

However, the incident "reinforces for us how we are going to have to battle every day, and these lines of efforts we have to take to look at this," Trussler said.
