The week ahead

Driving the week is the expected release of the Trump administration's budget blueprint for fiscal year 2018. Meanwhile, congressional defense committees have scheduled a variety of hearings.

Monday

The Association of the United States Army hosts its annual "Global Force" conference in Huntsville, AL. The event will run through Wednesday.

Tuesday

The Senate Armed Services Committee will hold hearing with Marine Corps Commandant Gen. Robert Neller to discuss the Marines United nude photo-sharing scandal.

Leidos executives speak at the J.P. Morgan aviation, transportation and industrials conference.

Wednesday

The American Enterprise Institute will hold a panel discussion on the Pentagon's Overseas Contingency Operations account.

The House Armed Services Committee will meet to receive an update from Gen. Joseph Votel, the chief of U.S. Central Command, on security challenges in the Middle East.

The Senate Armed Services airland subcommittee will hold a hearing on advances in 21st century warfare.

The House Armed Services emerging threats and capabilities subcommittee will hold a hearing on information warfare and counter-propaganda strategy.

Thursday

The White House Office of Management and Budget is scheduled to release the FY-18 “skinny budget” and the FY-17 supplemental request.

The House Armed Services readiness subcommittee will hold a hearing to discuss the current state of the Navy.

The House Armed Services oversight and investigations subcommittee will hold a hearing on "infrastructure needs and projects ready for immediate implementation in the nuclear security enterprise."

The House Armed Services tactical air and land subcommittee will hold a hearing on Army modernization and readiness.

The Brookings Institution will hold a panel discussion featuring former Army Chief of Staff Gen. Raymond Odierno on securing global cities.
