The Senate today approved via unanimous consent Christine Wormuth to be the next Army secretary after her confirmation was rescinded last night.
Wormuth, the service's first female secretary, was initially confirmed in her position Wednesday until Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) later that evening moved to "vitiate" that action, effectively rescinding her confirmation.
A spokesman for Schumer was not immediately available for comment.
By Thursday morning, however, Wormuth was once again confirmed as Army secretary. She previously served in the Obama administration as under secretary of defense for policy and is currently the director of the RAND International Security and Defense Policy Center.
