HII Anticipates Award Of CVN-79 Primary Construction Contract By July

Huntington Ingalls Industries anticipates an award for the primary construction contract for the next-generation aircraft carrier John F. Kennedy by July, according to the company's chief executive. During a May 7 earnings call, HII CEO Mike Petters said he expects the Navy will award the shipbuilder an approximately $4 billion detailed design and construction (DD&C) contract for the Kennedy (CVN-79) in the second quarter of this year.
