AFRICOM SEEKS INTERAGENCY COOPERATION, PARTNER CAPACITY BUILDING

As the recently formed U.S. Africa Command prepares for its official stand-up Sept. 30, the new command will not try to "militarize Africa," but rather will seek to build the military capacity of friendly nations on the continent while coordinating its mission with interagency partners within the U.S. government, the colonel who heads the security cooperation division said last week.
