Authorizers eye end-strength increase sought by Army

House authorizers intend to support the Army in its push for an end-strength increase, according to legislation released June 20. In its mark for the fiscal year 2018 defense policy bill , the House Armed Services military personnel subcommittee authorized 17,000 more soldiers, which would push the Army to 1,035,000 overall. A list of FY-18 unfunded requirements compiled by Army senior leadership included 17,000 additional soldiers across the force. The service sought to add 10,000 soldiers in the active component,...
