Air Force considers scrapping JSTARS recap, lawmakers protest

The Air Force is considering new options for the next generation of E-8C Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System capabilities that could mean ending the recapitalization effort, a service spokeswoman confirmed to Inside Defense Tuesday. Senators from Georgia are trying to intervene by floating an amendment to the fiscal year 2018 defense policy bill that would require the defense secretary to sign off on a new acquisition strategy and prohibits the Air Force from using FY-18 funds to retire JSTARS...
