The White House said today it has withdrawn its nominations for the Air Force and Army general counsel jobs.

David Ehrhart, former associate general counsel at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, had been nominated to serve as Air Force general counsel.

An Air Force Academy graduate, he was in the service for more than three decades. At Lockheed, he was the lead attorney for the F-35 program.

Ryan Newman, acting assistant attorney general for the Justice Department's Office of Legal Policy, had been tapped to serve as Army general counsel. He had previously worked as chief counsel to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and as a clerk for Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito.
