MDA completes DigitalGlobe deal, will be renamed Maxar

Canadian communications and information company MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates, or MDA, said today it has completed its purchase of DigitalGlobe, making it a large provider of satellites, imagery and geospatial technology for commercial and government customers.

MDA said today it will now be known as Maxar Technologies and its U.S.-based company, known as SSL MDA, will become Maxar Technologies Holdings. 

Howard Lance will remain chief executive of the new Maxar Technologies. Timothy Hascall, previously responsible for DigitalGlobe's imagery business, will serve as chief operations officer.

Daniel Jablonsky, who was general manager of DigitalGlobe's U.S. and international defense and intelligence businesses, will serve as president of DigitalGlobe. Walter Scott, who formed DigitalGlobe in 1992, has been named Maxar's chief technology officer.
