Pelosi: Democrats will insist on non-defense boost to match increased defense spending

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said Thursday Democrats would fight for equal increases for defense and non-defense spending as negotiations for a final fiscal year 2018 appropriations package get underway. Congress is currently faced with a package of appropriations bills that exceed by billions the spending caps set by the 2011 Budget Control Act. The House, for instance, passed a defense appropriations bill that goes beyond the defense cap by $72 billion. If the bill remains unchanged...
