Chewning: M&A activity will be considered on 'case-by-case basis'

The head of the Pentagon's manufacturing and industrial base policy shop said today his office is not pursuing broad changes to the department's approach to mergers and acquisitions.

"In terms of mergers and acquisitions . . . we're going to continue to look at things on a case-by-case basis," he said.

The Pentagon has long warned against mergers at the prime contractor level. Asked whether he might pursue a broad policy change, Chewning said no and reiterated the plan to look at each transaction individually.
